Yeeezianity can be either a new religion in which people consider rapper Kanye West to be their “Savior” or it can be a comedy approach in which people praise Kanye’s Work. Either way, hundreds if not thousands of people believe that this God, Kanye, is going to usher the New Age of humanity. “Yeezanity” is a religion that stands by 5 pillars:
- All things created must be for the good of all.
- No human being’s right to express themselves must ever be repressed.
- Money is unnecessary except as a means of exchange.
- Man possesses the power to create everything he wants and needs.
- All human suffering exists to stimulate the creative powers of Man.
If that’s not enough to convince people that it’s an actual religion- these so called “Ye’ciples” have created a “Declaration of Faith” in which people who recite this and believe it convert in following the faith of their God, Yeezus.
I believe I Am a God
I believe Yeezus Is a God
I believe in the creative power of Man
I believe God wants Man to create in his Image
I believe God wants Man to fully express himself
I believe money has become unnecessary
I believe Man has the power to create everything he wants and needs
I believe Yeezus will lead us into a new Age of Creativity
I believe I will help usher in the new Age of Creativity
Faith be in Yeezus
Faith be in God
Is this a real thing? Or has it been taken too far.
A cover of Rolling Stone, back in February 9, 2006 portrayed Kanye West as Jesus Christ with a crown of thorns placed ontop of his head. This published photograph sparked crisitism from offended religious groups which lead to a flood of articles titled “Christians Angered by Kankye West Mockery”. Let’s say this were a joke- many people would agree that jokes like these have gone too far. It has reached the extent of disrespect and mockery of the Christianity religion that makes it lose it’s value.
However, compared to the theory of famous religion experts, someone like Emile Durkheim might think otherwise.
Yeesianity may be considered a religion according to Durkheim’s theory since he believes religion is seen as a “unified system of beliefs and practices relative to sacred things” (106) He believes that all religion… has a significance and objective values” (106). Although some people maybe disagree with this theory, the “Ye’ciples” followers do honestly consider Kanye’s Words of wisdom are a religion and follow his pillars on a day to day basis.
No one is to say what is religion and what is not. Religion is all personal beliefs that people reflect on which shapes the individual into becoming the person they are today. In my opinion, a world without religion would not be sane. Many people rely on religion to give them guidelines in which they must follow into becoming a civil person in society.
Thus, I conclude to believe that Yeesianity is in fact a religion- and just how many people have different religions, it would be immoral to say this new religion is not a real one.
